ACT I: SCENE

HOLLY HUGHES (V.O.)
This just in a world wide phenomenon strikes as Infinity Labs very own Dr. Harold Simons' nuclear fusion reactor has been turned on. The first of its kind tomorrow we will have an exclusive interview with the doc himself you don't want to miss it. That's it for us here but remember it's always a good day in Ocean City.

JACKSON
Still the hottest Reporter I've ever seen

LARA
She's sub par at best!

JACKSON
Come on Lara are you jealous of a girl I've never met?

DERRICK
Are you two ever gonna date

JACKSON
Derrick!!! It's been a while man

LARA
It's been too long

CYRUS
Two years exactly.

LARA
Hell yeah I almost missed you

EVELYN
It's not a party without me!

(Sirens BLARE in the distance)


DERRICK
What the hell was that?


HOLLY HUGHES (V.O.)
Breaking news as the Infinity Labs fusion reactor has malfunctioned... I repeat the fusion reactor at infinity labs has malfunctioned. Folks my best advice... Stay inside till this boils down It's going to be a long night.

(CUT TO COMMERCIAL)

ACT 1: SCENE B


INT. EXAM ROOM - DAY
(Derricks LAYING on a Hospital type bed until he awakes)

SIMONS
Mr. Snow welcome to the land of the living... Again!

DERRICK
Again? Like I Died!

SIMONS
Technically you were in a Coma for 9 months. But anyway put these on meet me in room D-20

DERRICK
Yo! Where's that at?

SIMONS
(Exiting the room)
You're on floor D now find room 20.

SIMONS
Welcome to Infinity Labs my name is Dr. Harold Simons.

JACKSON
Ha you couldn't think of a better name?

SIMONS
Nope.

DERRICK
What are we doing here?

SIMONS
Do any of you have any recollection of what happened 9 months ago?

DERRICK
We were put in a coma.

SIMONS
Yes but how?

LARA
Our Birthday... There was an explosion or something like that. Where's my sister is she ok? Did she die?

CHARLOTTE
I'm alright sis.

CYRUS
The blast at the restaurant. Were we the only ones affected?

SIMONS
No. I'm afraid there were casualties. I guess that's the cost of groundbreaking science.

EVELYN
I feel different.

SIMONS
As you should.

EVELYN
Why should I feel different?Because I was in a coma for nine months or the fact that I'm talking to the man who caused all this!

DERRICK
Calm down Ev!

SIMONS
When the blast occurred the DNA in your body was combined with the nuclear particles of the fusion reactor–

JACKSON
So we're live tick tick bombs.

DERRICK
Go on.

SIMONS
You weren't supposed to survive the explosion but instead.


EVELYN
We Absorbed it…

CHARLOTTE
Is it just me or is it hot in here?

CYRUS
I'm perfectly fine.

EVELYN
Can I talk to you alone…

DERRICK
Definitely.
(Derrick and Evelyn WALK out of the room and into the hallway)

DERRICK
What's up?

EVELYN
Do you trust him?

DERRICK
Why?

EVELYN
I don't know but there's something about him that seems off.

DERRICK
What do you mean?

EVELYN
I mean you would think someone who killed thousands of people would be a bit remorseful.

DERRICK
You have a do point. It's like we were the only lives worth saving.
